What could the cop be thinking? If it is that training of "cops to kill" ... Then training needs to change...
Why not learning to RETREAT, REORGANIZE, TAZER, OR MAIM, instead of an instant reaction "to kill" .....? Killing by the police appears (3 in 10 months) to be the major strategy and action in the face of dangerous, uncooperative, or threatening situations. Training must discontinue "shoot to kill" and focus on stopping uncooperativeness, avoiding contact, deescalating situations and passively subduing suspects (before pulling out a gun)... four alternatives before pulling the trigger.
